So far, we have seen a mild winter and, for that, we at the camp are grateful. In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, most people would probably agree that a mild winter was just what Long Islanders needed to collectively get back on their feet again.
Knowing that so many on Long Island suffered so much, we are thankful for being spared the additional repair work on our structures. Luckily, we are able to concentrate on the seasonal work that we know needs to be completed each year and no new work courtesy of mother nature.
Our new extension is finally done and the room is magnificent! We had our first Annual Breakfast with Santa there in December and people marveled at the size and capacity of the room. The Moriches Rotary is very hopeful that many great events will be held there in the months and years to come.
Our old dining hall is about to get a "facelift" as well. New sheetrock, paint, and flooring will be the order of the day for this space in the next few weeks. Additionally, new lighting will improve our night vision on the road into camp and on the path down to the Fuoco cabin.
As we ready ourselves for another summer, it is our hope that the camp and campgrounds look better than ever and continue to improve as we grow!
Yours in Camping,
