Long Island Respite Program and Summer Camp Schedule

2014 Fall/Winter Respite Program

We hold a Fall/Winter Respite Program throughout the year, transforming the 60-plus-year-old camp into a year-round destination for children and young adults with disabilities.

Children and young adults up to the age of 21 arrive on Friday evening and leave on Sunday afternoon. There is a new theme each weekend. Campers can participate in various activities, including baking, arts and crafts, games, and watching movies.

The weekends available are as follows:

  • September 12-14 and September 19-21
  • October 3-5 and October 10-12
  • November 7-9 and November 21-23
  • December 12-14 and December 19-21

Online Registration Form

The cost of each weekend (Friday to Sunday) is $350. The camp requires a $50 deposit per session which is non-refundable unless registration is canceled 30 days prior to the session.

Check-in for campers is at 8 p.m. on Friday and check-out is at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Because the resources are packed away until the summer, campers are required to bring their own sheets, blankets, pillows, towels, and toiletries.

Up to 20 campers will be admitted for each weekend. During those weekends, the camp will be staffed by Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck’s counselors and the camp nurse.

For more information and to register your child, contact Johneen or Bridget at 631-878-1070 or e-mail us at camppaquatuck@optonline.net.

Each session is designed to help the campers achieve equality, dignity, and maximum independence through a safe and quality program of camping, recreation, and education in a summertime environment. The camp aims to help each child reach beyond the limits of their physical and mental challenges, encouraging them to join fellow campers in activities.

Check-in for the weekly sessions is from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Check-out is by 11 a.m. A late fee of $25 per hour will be assessed if the camper is not picked up by check-out time. Registration is $875 for a weekly session.(Registration is still open, but check with the camp for availability of each session.)

“We are looking forward to having new campers attend the camp this season,” said Camp Director Bridget Costello. “These children will definitely enjoy themselves with all the fun-filled activities that the camp has to offer. It will be a summer that they will remember forever.”

The Camp is also looking for contributors interested in sponsoring a child’s experience. For more information, or to register your child, call Johneen or Bridget at (631) 878-1070, email camppaquatuck@optonline.net or visit http://www.camppaquatuck.com.
