Development Report

I can’t believe summer is almost over! We are about to head into September and, trust me, next month will be a busy one!

Once again, the camp is bringing back a Labor Day weekend tradition — Bradstock! Now in its 22nd year, this two-day festival promises to be bigger and better than ever. It has everything: music, poetry, vendors and artwork. It will take place on September 5-6. For the athletic types, there will be a 5K run that Sunday morning. Registration is free for those who have already purchased a ticket for Bradstock. What’s also great about this event is that part of the ticket sales go to benefit Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck! Putting this festival takes a lot of hard work, but Brendan and the Bradstock gang always make it work.

Speaking of traditions, friends and members of the Fuoco family are hosting the 46th Fuoco Memorial Golf Feastival at Bellport Country Club on September 17. The Fuocos have been longtime supporters of the camp; it began almost half a century ago when Buddy Fuoco donated money to the camp while his daughter Beth Ann was a camper. What started out as an annual golf tournament among the family to raise money for Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck has since become a full day of fun with nearly 100 golfers enjoying special Italian delicacies while hitting the links. There is still time to register! Contact Steve Fuoco at sfuoco@bradley-parker.com.

The Moriches Rotary Club is gearing up for its annual Oktoberfest on September 25-27. For three days, families will enjoy German food and music, as well as games and rides for the kiddies. For the first time this year, we will be renting space for those who wish to stay during the weekend in their campers or motorhomes. If you want to get a spot, call Bill Dovale at (631) 878-1984. If you wish to be a sponsor or a vendor, you can call Peter Traina at (631) 404-6009.

Before the summer season ends, I want to thank all the camp counselors for their hard work during these 10 weeks. They will soon be flying back home and I wanted to express my gratitude before they leave. I will also miss all our campers — they brought a smile to my face and all the counselors’ faces. We look forward to seeing you next summer.

Take care and enjoy the fall season.

Yours in camping,
Bridget Reilly Costello
