Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck’s Spooky Walk is a Spooktacular Time

(CENTER MORICHES, NEW YORK) — As a summer camp for children and young adults with disabilities, Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck isn’t typically a scary place. But, all of that changes each October when the Spooky Walk rises, evoking screams from even the bravest of participants. Nominated for Best Haunted House in the 2016 Best of Long Island, Spooky Walk pushes the limits on scares and is not recommended for children under age 10.

Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck’s Spooky Walk is a 45-minute indoor and outdoor walking tour that features masked and costumed actors at exhibits like The Pirates, Club Boogie, The Zombies, Camp Crystal Lake and a Psycho Hospital, a variety that surely keeps things interesting.

“We have a several themes, but even every night varies depending on turnout,” says Spooky Walk organizer Marcella Weiss. “Spooky Walk is only possible because of the dedication from our volunteers. There’s a real sense of community for everyone who participates, including everyone from actors to security. The turnout of volunteers and how hard they work is really what’s unbelievable about this event.”

For those too spooked to take the walk, the event offers a fall-themed affair complete with hamburgers, hot dogs, roasted corn, cotton candy, popcorn, candy apples, hot cider and hot pretzels available for purchase.

Spooky Walk continues this weekend, Friday, October 27 and Saturday, October 28, from 7 to 9 p.m. Arrive early so you don’t spend the time in line. Admission to the event is $20 per person, with all of the proceeds benefiting the camp’s mission to provide a safe and fun-filled environment for children and young adults with special needs during their summer and fall respite sessions.

Spooky Walk’s undead bride
Spooky Walk’s undead bride scared hundreds of Spooky Walk attendees on Friday, October 21 at Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck in Center Moriches. The event continued for a second weekend on October 27 and 28.
